Most migrants have a 5-year window. The clock is already running.

Which exam is giving you trouble?

Each one is scored separately. Miss one and you retake it.

You work full-time in English. When do you study Dutch?

Inbu runs on 10-minute sessions. No evening classes. No tutor scheduling.

You speak Dutch. We tell you what the examiner would say — instantly. No waiting, no scheduling.

10-Minute Lessons

10 minutes on the train beats 2 hours on Sunday that never happen.

Know When You're Ready

Retake the level check anytime. You'll know when you're ready — not hope.

What you're actually being tested on

DUO runs five separate exams. Pass all five and you qualify for permanent residence. Here's what each one looks like.

Lezen – Reading

Dutch forms, signs, and short texts. The vocabulary is manageable — the pressure is not.

Luisteren – Listening

Real spoken Dutch — fast, informal, and without subtitles. You need repetition, not theory.

Spreken – Speaking

2025 format: fully recorded answers. No multiple choice. You hear a prompt and you respond.

Schrijven – Writing

Short texts and emails in Dutch. Word order matters more than vocabulary.

KNM Examen – Dutch Society

Dutch history, law, housing, healthcare. More memorisation than language — but very passable if you do enough KNM oefenen (practice).

Common questions

What is the inburgering examen?

It's a Dutch government requirement: pass five separate exams — Lezen, Luisteren, Spreken, Schrijven, and KNM — to prove your Dutch language skills and knowledge of Dutch society. Pass all five and you qualify for permanent residence or citizenship.

How long does it take to prepare for the inburgering exam?

Most students need 2–6 months depending on their starting level. 10 minutes a day, consistently, is enough. Inbu's lessons are built for that — short, exam-focused, and adaptive to what you keep getting wrong.

What is the Spreken (speaking) exam format in 2025?

The 2025 Spreken exam uses fully recorded answers — no multiple choice, no options to fall back on. You hear a prompt, you speak Dutch, and you're scored on what you say. Inbu's speaking practice matches what the examiner scores so you're not practising blind.

Can I practice for free?

Yes. Start with 20 free lessons — no credit card needed. Try real exam-style questions across all five skills before deciding anything.

Which exam level do I need to pass: A2 or B1?

Most migrants need A2. Some need B1 depending on when they started their integration process. Inbu covers both — so either way, you're covered.

Your permanent residence is on the other side of five exams.
